LAWTON, Okla. —
The Stillwater High School boys basketball team showed its inexperience for the second straight day in Lawton with a 66-52 loss to Lawton High.
“We missed 11 layups,” SHS coach Michael Davis said. “You can’t be successful when you miss 11 layups. We’ve got to finish when we’re that close to the basket.”
Tyler Holcomb led the Pioneers (9-4) with 12 points — including a pair of 3-pointers in the final minutes. Jon Littell and Dylan Murrell each had 8 points, with Littell grabbing 8 rebounds as well. Rico Thompson also had 6 points and 7 rebounds for Stillwater, which trailed 26-22 at the half.
Next, Stillwater will host Ponca City on Monday night.
“We have some things to work on, but there was also some good things,” Davis said. “It wasn’t all bad. We just have to go back to the drawing board and learn to finish.”
