Morrison girls slip by Pioneer

MORRISON, Okla. — Morrison closed out the regular season with a bang.

The Lady Wildcats used a strong fourth quarter to get past Pioneer 60-58 on Monday night.

“We just kept fighting,” Morrison coach Rowdy Cawlfield said.

Morrison trailed Pioneer 48-38 going into the final frame. But the Lady Wildcats outscored Pioneer 22-10 to come away with the win. Morrison’s Kalie Vernon scored nine points but also hit a 3-pointer with close to 15 seconds to play to help guide the way to victory.

Shana Walls scored 17 points in the Morrison win. Jamie Bales chipped in 15 in the victory.

Morrison (13-8) will play in district competition against Wellston on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Millwood. The loser will end its season as the winner will advance.
