BROKEN ARROW, Okla. —
The Ripley Warriors punched their ticket to the Class A regionals with three victories in the Class A District 19 baseball tournament.
Ripley (20-10) only needed an inning to score 10 runs to defeat Dove Science Academy 10-0. Trevor Watts earned the win. Garret Gosney and Chandler Salinas each hit 2-RBI doubles.
The Warriors won the second game 11-1 over Summitt Christian School. Seven runs in the bottom of the sixth put the game away. Levi Morris (6-3) earned the victory with 11 strikeouts. Salinas swung a hot bat with two doubles and 3 RBI. Morris went 2 for 2 with a double.
Ripley clinched the championship with an 11-1 victory over Summitt Christian, needing just three innings. Caulden Greenfield earned the victory and struck out eight batters. Gosney went 2 for 2 with three runs, Watts went 1-2 with 3 RBI and Morris went 3 for 3.
“We scored 32 runs and only gave up two,” coach Donnie Hoffman said. “We pitched well and swung the bats well. The wind blew in our face all afternoon and at times made hitting difficult.
“We played great defense, didn’t make an error. I’m really proud of the guys. They came in and took care of business.”
The Warriors will find out where they are going and who they are playing in regionals on Monday.
