Cushing Wrestlers off to strong start in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS — The Cushing Tigers picked up several victories during the first day of the Trey Colutta Tournament Friday.

The tournament began with pool play with each wrestlers getting five bouts. Based on those results, wrestlers will compete in brackets on Saturday.

Cushing won by fall in the 106-weight class and lost two other bouts. Walsh went 2-1 with two victories by fall and lost by decision, Daniel Hood (120) went 3-2 with two victories by falls and a major decison and a loss by decision and by fall, Jacob Miller won all there  of his boutes with falls, Blake Burden (126) went 2-2 with a technical fall and decision victory and two losses by decisions, Mason Roberts (132) went 4-1 with four falls and a loss by decision, Cushing won two bouts by fall and lost three by fall at 138, The Tigers went 3-2 at 145 and won with three victories by fall and lost by decision twice, Cushing won one bout by fall in the 152-pound weight class and won by fall and by decision in the 160-pound weight class. The Tigers won two by fall and one by decision and lost one by decision at 182. Daniel Rowell went 3-1 with three victories by fall in the 195-pound weight class and lost by decision, Trevor Hubble (220) won three bouts by fall and one by decision and Mac Ramsey went 3-1 with two falls and a decision victory.

The tournament resumes Saturday with bracket play.
