Stillwater and Perry wrestlers start strong at Kansas City Stampede

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Stillwater Pioneers and the Perry Maroons began pool play in the Kansas City Stampede wrestling tournament Friday.

Pete Pickens won his first pool-play bout by fall over Isaac Goytia from Garden City in the 160-pound weight class and was pinned in his second and third bouts. Cyntrell Carden went 2-0 won his first bout in the 220-weight class by fall and won by decision. Heavyweight James Brower also won his opening bout by fall. Tyler Dieringer won his first two bouts by fall and decision in the 106-pound weight class. Andrew Nieman won his first two bouts in the 113 weight class by fall. Jacob Fontanez (120) won his first three bouts by fall. Benny Teegarden (126) also won two bouts by fall. Kaid Brock (132) won his opening bout by technical fall and his second by fall. Tristan Moran (138) won his three  bouts by fall. Joe Smith (152) won by fall. Chandler Rogers (170) won his opening bout by fall. Jordan Dieringer (182) won by fall. C.J. Citizen (195) lost by decision 10-4.

Perry’s Cale Betchan (106) went 2-1 with a decison and fall.  Dalton Revels (113) went 2-0 with a fall and decision. Noah Nida (120) went 2-0 with a fall and a decision. Zane Johnson (126) won by fall in his two pool play matches. Blake Avery (132) won by a 12-3 major decision and fall. Hunter Condit (145) won two by decisions. Colton Looper won his only match by fall. David Thomas (160) won two by falls. Garrett Beier won two by falls.
