Pawnee boys return to the 2A state tournament

SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — The Pawnee Black Bears are going back to the state tournament after a 47-43 victory over the Kiefer Trojans in the area consolation championship Saturday at Sand Springs High School.

Kiefer beat the Black Bears in the regional championship last weekend. Pawnee (22-5) trailed 13-9 after the first quarter and 17-16 at halftime. The Black Bears took the lead after the third quarter — outscoring the Trojans 17-13. Gideon Gardner led Pawnee with 20 points. Nathan Brock also reached double figures with 16.

The Black Bears reach the state tournament for the first time since the 2010-11 season. Brackets will be released by OSSAA on Sunday.

DEL CITY — The Demons' season came to an end with a loss in the area consolation finals on Saturday. P-T finished the season with a 19-5 record.
