Glencoe boys, P-T girls remain unbeaten; Coyle sweeps Davenport

STILLWATER, Okla. — COVINGTON — The Glencoe Panthers defeated Covington-Douglas 90-21.

The Panthers (12-0) scored double didgits in all four quarters. Ty Lazenby and Jake Lazenby led the team offensively.

Glencoe coach John Lazenby said he expects his team to do well in the Earlsboro tournament.

Glencoe is the number one seed in the tournament.

“If we take care of business Saturday, we will face a pretty solid opponent and that’s what we need right now with playoffs coming up,” John Lazenby said.

Coyle 69, Davenport 31

COYLE — Coyle outscored Davenport in each quarter to secure the win, 69-31.

Tony Aska and Jakobi Brown both scored 18 points to lead the team. Ryan Weathers contributed 14 points.

Coyle coach Josh Sumrall said his team held the lead throughout the game.

Coyle will next face Dover in the Muhall-Orlando tournament.

Kingfisher 43, Perkins-Tryon 36

PERKINS — Perkins-Tryon suffered a loss to Kingfisher in a close game with a final of 43-36.

The loss brings the Demons record to 6-5. P-T had a strong second quarter, outcoring Kingfisher by 5 points, but it couldn’t match the Yellowjackets.

P-T will begin the CD Warehouse tournament against Seminole on Thursday night.

Perry 46, Morrison 37

PERRY — The Morrison Wildcats faced another loss against the Perry Maroons, falling 46-37.

Jordan Quinata was the leading scorer with 19 points. Morrison coach Cory Bales said his team needed to shoot the ball better.

“It kind of doomed us in the second quarter when we only scored one point,” Bales said.

The Wildcats will play Kiefer on Thursday at 7 in the Mike Kerr Classic.

Girls

Perkins-Tryon 60, Kingfisher 52

PERKINS —The Lady Demons remain undefeated this season after beating Kingfisher 60-52.

Senior Jordan Gorham led the team with 20 points followed closely by senior McKenzie Stanford with 18.

P-T (11-0) will play Little Axe in the CD Warehouse Tournament.

“We will look at film tomorrow and we’ll be ready,” P-T coach Jerry Burnett said.

Coyle 57, Davenport 43

COYLE — Coyle defeated Davenport 57-43, in a game where the Lady Bluejackets were lacking starters.

One starter for Coyle (8-4) was hurt and two starters were benched before halftime with fouls.

Coyle coach Tom Webb said his team played a smart basketball game.

“We overcame a lot of adversity,” Webb said. “We played a lot of kids off the bench that did really well.”

Tyra Aska led the Lady Bluejackets with 18 points. Coyle will play Dover in the Muhall-Orlando tournament 10 a.m. Thursday.
