COYLE, Okla. —
Coyle’s strong performance allowed it to end the game after the first half by the mercy rule, dominating Oaks 52-0.
Quarterback Ryan Weathers took over in the first quarter, scoring four touchdowns, all with successful two-point conversions. The Bluejackets’ defense also shined with an interception by Joe Hales, which he returned for a 28-yard touchdown.
Coyle finished the game in the second half with Jared Weathers playing quarterback. Gary Hunter captured the win by running for a 14-yard touchdown and Heath Moorman scored the two-point conversion.
Coyle is now 6-2. Next week, the Bluejackets play at home against Riverfield Country Day, hoping to keep their chance at playoffs.
Perry 57, Luther 24
LUTHER — The Perry Maroons (4-4) secured an important win over Luther (2-5). The non-district victory evened their record.
It was a strong running game for the Maroons. They had 480 rushing yards. Darreal Williams scored four touchdowns, three on the ground and one through the air, earning him player of the game honors.
Perry is in contention for playoffs as long as the rest of its games this season remain strong.
Yale 32, Depew 12
DEPEW — Although the Bulldogs (5-3) were able to strengthen their record with a win over Depew (0-8), head coach Craig Ellis was not happy with the way his team played.
He said their special teams were off their game, and they need to continue to execute on offense. The defense also threw away several key plays.
As Yale faces Hominy next week, Ellis said he hopes the team has improved in these areas.
“We’ve just got to make sure next week our defense doesn’t give up big plays against Hominy,” Ellis said.
Chisholm 28, Pawnee 13
PAWNEE — Despite its efforts, Pawnee (1-7) was unable to come away with a win against Chisholm (4-4).
Regardless, the Black Bears had a strong game on the ground with 284 rushing yards.
Trey Elston had 13 carries for a team-high 81 yards. He also scored one touchdown. Marlon Houston was the other scorer for the Black Bears.
Pawnee will travel next week to play Perry, which has been averaging 32.5 points per game.
