STILLWATER, Okla. —
The Stillwater High football team is officially out of the playoff hunt. The Pioneers can no longer, mathematically, make the playoffs in Class 6A District 4 after falling to rival Enid Thursday at Pioneer Stadium, 48-14.
Stillwater (1-7, 1-4) made the first big play of the game, when Pioneer defensive lineman Johan Motley recovered a fumble on Enid’s 21-yard line on the opening drive of the game. Two plays later, Davion Carter ran in a 16-yard touchdown to give Stillwater its only lead of the game.
Unfortunately, SHS didn’t get any more big plays to fall its way and an offense that had put up big numbers the first six weeks of the season, failed to break the 20-point plateau for the second straight week.
In the meantime, the Plainsmen (6-2, 4-1) ran off 34 unanswered points before the Pioneers finally scored its second touchdown with 10:22 left in the fourth quarter on a 3-yard run by Carter. Enid put up two more touchdowns in the final four minutes of the game to run the score up to 48-14.
Stillwater will now travel to Bartlesville and Union in the final two weeks of the season.
