MOORE, Okla. —
The No. 14-ranked Stillwater High girls’ basketball squad continues to ride its winning streak, claiming its fifth-straight victory by defeating Lawton Ike 45-40 in the semifinal of the Moore John Nobles Classic.
It was the second win over Ike for the Lady Pioneers in their winning streak and landed them in today’s championship game at 7 p.m. against Muskogee, which defeated Southmoore 54-44 in the other semifinal game. Muskogee is ranked No. 9 in Class 6A.
Stillwater trailed 22-19 at the break and used sound defense in the second half to get the victory, SHS coach Carl Treat said.
Junior point guard Austyn Iven led the Lady Pioneers with 18 points, while senior LaNesha Middleton chipped in 13 points to go with nine rebounds.
Iven and Middleton powered Stillwater to a 46-33 victory over Moore in Thursday’s tournament opener. The duo scored 20 points each.
At the Shawnee Tournament, the SHS boys advanced to the championship game by knocking off Coweta 53-46 in a semifinal game Friday.
Junior Tyler Holcomb led the Pioneers in scoring with 19 points. Carson Teel and Tanner Killam scored 9 points each. Killam also hauled in 11 rebounds.
The Pioneers will face El Reno, which knocked off Sapulpa in the other semifinal contest, in the championship game at 8 p.m. today.
