Glencoe basketball teams win district championships

GLENCOE, Okla. —

 

The Glencoe Lady Panthers won the district championship against the Agra Lady Bearcats 68-36.

Agra fell behind in the first quarter, and Glencoe led by 14 points at halftime. Chelsea Lazenby led the Lady Panthers with 31 points. Agra was led by Faith Condrey with 10. 

The Lady Bearcats will advance to the consolation bracket of regionals at 1:30 p.m. Thursday on their home court. Glencoe will play in regionals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Agra.

DRUMMOND — The Lady Bluejackets won the district title in convincing fashion over the Lady Chiefs.

“I subbed in the second quarter and the whole second half,” coach Tom Webb said. “We came out focused. Got great play from my guards — shooting 3-pointers and playing good defense.”

Coyle will start play in regionals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday on their home floor against the winner of Welch and Watts.

Timberlake 55, Mulhall-Orlando 35

MULHALL — The Lady Panthers fell to Timberlake in the district championship.

Rhett Boyd was the leading scorer with 15 points. M-O will advance to the consolation bracket in the regional tournament at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Shidler.

RED ROCK — The Frontier Lady Mustangs played strong in their defeat against Wesleyan Christian in the district championship.

Marissa Goodman was the high scorer for Frontier with 29 points. Kristan Molina followed with 20. 

The Lady Mustangs move ahead to regionals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at home.

MORRISON — The Lady Wildcats won their homecoming game against Crescent.

Morrison was led by Kalie Vernon with 23 points and Jacy Bales with 15. The Lady Wildcats play Pioneer on Monday in Morrison at 6:30 p.m.

DRUMMOND — The Bluejackets competed well against the No. 8 Bulldogs but ultimately fell short in the district championship.

“We were tied at seven after the first quarter,” Coyle coach Josh Sumrall said. “They got up by seven at halftime and were up by 12 in the second half. We cut it down to four with five minutes left. I’m proud of my guys for playing hard.”

The Bluejackets (12-12) will look to keep their season alive against the loser of Watts and Welch at 3 p.m. Thursday in the regional consolation at Coyle.

Glencoe 91, Agra 42

GLENCOE — The Glencoe Panthers defeated the Agra Bearcats in the district championship.

The Panthers were up by 26 points going in to the second half and increased their lead. 

J.K. Hadlock led the Panthers with 23 points and Agra was led by T.J. Roberts with 9. 

The Bearcats will move forward to the consolation bracket of regionals at 3 p.m. Thursday on their home court. Glencoe will face the winner of Oaks and Riverfield Country Day in regionals at 8 p.m. Thursday in Agra.

The Wildcats play Pioneer at 8 p.m. Monday in Morrison.
