TULSA, Okla. —
TULSA – The Lady Pioneers overcame a late deficit to win in overtime.
Junior guard Becca Worthy made a basket with 0.4 seconds left in the game and was fouled. Worthy converted the free throw to win. The junior led the team in points with 19.
“It was a good game,” coach Carl Treat said. “It was nip-and-tuck the whole way. ... We were really good at hitting timely shots.”
Stillwater improved to 5-3.
TULSA — The Stillwater Pioneers started slow, and missed a shot late in a 55-53 loss to BIshop McGuinness.
“We had a chance to win it,” coach Michael Davis said. “(Braydon) Murrell had a breakaway layup and missed it. They scored and took the lead. We came down and tied it. They scored at the end to win it.”
Though Murrell’s miss was at a key point it was the slow start that cost Stillwater. McGuinness hit three 3-pointers to jump out to a 9-0 lead.
“It was a heck of a game,” Davis said. “We don’t allow those threes it could have been a different result.”
Junior Carson Teel led the team in scoring with 17 points along with three rebounds. Senior guard Rico Thompson scored 13 points and recorded four rebounds with three assists. The Pioneers fell to 5-3.
