OKLAHOMA CITY — Half of Stillwater High's wrestlers won their first round matchups Friday afternoon at the Class 6A State Wrestling Championships in Oklahoma City.

Stillwater then hit a rash of close losses with junior King Williams dropping a 3-0 decision to Southmoore senior Zac Damico at 120 pounds and junior Benny Teegarden falling 3-1 to Edmond North senior Josh Breece at 126 pounds.

SHS got back in the win column with sophomore Joe Smith collecting a 19-4 technical fall of Lawton senior Danny Maldanado in the 132-pound weight class. Stillwater's sixth wrestler, freshman Chase Lane, was pinned in the second period by Muskogee junior Dawaylon Barnes.

First round consolation matches for Williams, Teegarden and Lane are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., with championship semifinals beginning at 7:15 p.m.
