COYLE, Okla. —
Even with only five hits, the Carney High School girls softball team didn’t have a problem taking care of Coyle with a 14-4 win Tuesday.
The Lady Bulldogs (12-5) scored 10 runs in the second and added three more in the third to turn what was a 2-0 deficit into an insurmountable lead.
“They had a couple of walks and then just kicked the ball around a little bit,” Carney coach Lindsey Freeman said.”We had three hits and we just kind of kept on keeping on. They made some errors and we were able to capitalize on them”
Shelby Hover (12-5) picked up the win for the Lady Bulldogs, who will travel to Ripley Thursday before playing either Coyle or Mulhall-Orlando in districts.
“It feels good to get this win because we might play them in districts,” Freeman said. “We’re going to play the winner of the game between Mulhall-Orlando and Coyle, and it will probably be Coyle. We beat them twice this season, but as they say, the third time’s the charm, so we’ll have to be ready.”
