Yale takes down Drumright during homecoming

YALE, Okla. — The Yale Bulldogs defeated Drumright Tornadoes on homecoming with a 22-12 victory Friday.

“It was a dog fight,” Yale coach Craig Ellis said. “Our passing game wasn’t good. We kept our composure and never gave up.”

Quarterback JR Wakely got the Bulldogs on the board with a 6-yard run and converted the two-point conversion to lead 8-0. Drumright (1-3, 0-1) responded in the second quarter and cut Yale’s lead to 8-6 at halftime.

The Bulldogs (3-1, 1-0) pulled away in the second half. Devion Saunders caught a 25-yard pass from Wakely. With a minute left in the game Wakely returned an interception for 50 yards and threw a two-point conversion pass to Konner Fowler to give Yale a 22-6 lead.

Morrison 56, Depew 26

DEPEW — The Morrison Wildcats put up 460 yards of total offense and scored early and often in a 56-26 rout of the Depew Hornets Friday.

“We were up 32-14 at halftime and scored on our first two possessions of the second half,” coach Cory Bales said. “Our defense forced three turnovers which was huge and we returned a fumble for a touchdown.”

Sophomore quarterback Jordan Quinata scored 5 rushing touchdowns, completed four passes for 50 yards and rushed for 177. Trevor Vernon returned a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown in the second half.

The Wildcats (3-1, 1-0) will host Hominy next Friday.

Coyle 50, Welch 0

WELCH — The Coyle Bluejackets may have been without their starting quarterback Ryan Weathers but the offense didn’t skip a beat in a 50-0 rout of the Welch.

“We came right out of the gates and scored quickly,” coach Shane Weathers said. “We scored 32 points in the first quarter, 12 in the second and ended the game early in the third.”

Jared Weathers threw for a touchdown and ran for a touchdown in his first start at quarterback. Coach said he performed fine once he got his nerves under control.

“He was a little nervous,” Weathers said. “I had to get on him some but he got into a rhythm.”

Weathers said he got great play from his running backs.

“Anthony McLeod had a big night,” Weathers said. “Our speed on the sweeps were too much for them.”

The Bluejackets (3-1, 2-1) host Copan on Friday.

Tonkawa 7, Perry 6

TONKAWA — The Perry Maroons struggled to put points on the board in a 7-6 loss at the Tonkawa Buccanners.

Tonkawa (3-1, 1-0) scored in the first quarter on a 61-yard pass. Perry had a scoring chance in the second quarter, getting inside Tonkawa’s 20 but it didn’t materialize.

The Maroons (1-3, 0-1) scored in the fourth quarter on a 19-yard touchdown pass but missed the extra point.

Perry hosts Alva on Friday.

Seminole 61, Perkins-Tryon 20

SEMINOLE — The Perkins-Tryon Demons knew exactly what they were facing when they stepped on the field against the Seminole Chieftains and were overwhelmed 61-20.

“They kept the ball out of our hands,” P-T coach Lloyd Wertman said. “They had big runs and made big plays. We had some miscues on the kicking game and didn’t recover some onside kicks.”

The Demons (2-2, 0-1) host Bethany.
