CUSHING, Okla. —

With the Class 6A softball regionals coming up, the Stillwater Lady Pioneers were looking to gather some momentum. Tuesday against the Cushing Lady Tigers, Stillwater got exactly that in a 5-0 win.

“We needed that win,” coach Amber Davis said. “Halley Randolph hit a home run that got us started. We had several base hits.”

Hunter White provided a key hit when she hit a two-run single with the bases loaded. In the circle, the Lady Pioneers got a strong performance from Taylor Lane, who pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out four Lady Tigers.

The Lady Pioneers close the regular season at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Piedmont. Stillwater will compete in regionals next week in Owasso, opening with Sand Springs at 2 p.m. Oct. 10.

“(Piedmont) is a good competitive 5A school,” Davis said. “It will help get us prepared for regionals.”
