CUSHING, Okla. —

Baseball

Ripley 11 Olive 1

RIPLEY — The Ripley Warriors use a seven-run second inning and stingy defense to rout the Olive Wildcats 11-1.

The Warriors (3-0) allowed one hit, thanks to strong pitching from Dillion Moore and Garrett Gosney. Moore struck out five in three innings while Gosney struck out two in the final two innings. Chandler Salinas provided the offensive spark with three doubles and two runs batted in. Griffin Gosney added a double.

In addition to Friday’s game against Olive, Ripley beat Cimarron 12-6 Thursday in the Dover Festival. Griffin Gosney picked up the win.

“We’ve gotten better all three days,” coach Donnie Hoffman said. “The first three innings Thursday we didn’t play good defense but we did the last three. I’ve used seven different guys on the hill and trying to stretch the pitching out.”

The Warriors play Moss and Leedey at Central Oklahoma University.

“It will be a fun opportunity to play on a college field,” Hoffman said. “You don’t get to do that every day. We are playing two quality teams so it should be a good day.”
