STILLWATER, Okla. —
How disappointing it was to pick up Sunday’s NewsPress and find “BBQ and Blues” on the front page!
Don’t get me wrong, I like BBQ and blues, but Sunday June 6th was D-Day in 1944 and nowhere in the NewsPress was D-Day mentioned, except in the comics.
The story of D Day should have been on the front pages of every newspaper in America! Only Charles Schulz honored our fighting men. So many young men hit the beaches of Normandy and parachuted into harm’s way on D-Day. Too many of them never made it home.
Those brave young men fought to keep America the free country it is today. If not for them, we would not enjoy the liberties we have today! Stillwater NewsPress, get with it!
We need to honor our war heros, living and dead.
To almost totally ignore D-Day, except for it being in the comics, which you get sent to you, is appalling!
I want my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to know what their great granddads, uncles and other relatives gave up for all of us to be free.
In few other countries can someone like me do as I am doing right now, writing to my newspaper and letting my disappointment be known.
Please keep America first, especially in these hard times.
We need to be reminded that our brave military men and women are still in harm’s way and that no matter what party you belong to, we are all Americans!
God bless all those Who fought on D-Day June 6, 1944.
We are losing so many of them every day. Soon they will all be gone but hopefully not forgotten!
