Grace Missionary Baptist Church dedicates new building in Stillwater

LANGSTON, Okla. — The Grace Misisonary Baptist Church celebrated its new home Saturday with a dedication ceremony.

The group's new 5,000-square-foot building, located at 5702 N. Washington, was completed in March after 18 months of construction, said Mike Raines, pastor of the Grace Missionary Baptist Church.

No money was borrowed for the project, he said, and was instead collected over time. It is the church's third location since forming five years ago.

The 60-member congregation originally met in a rental property on West Sixth Avenue after a short stint at the fairgrounds, he said, before relocating to the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home.

It was there Raines said he met Riaz Munjavac, owner of the property that eventually became Grace Missionary's new home.

“ I was just been out visiting people in the area when I came across him,” Raines said. “He asked me if we were looking for property - that was on Thursday and we shook hands on that deal on Saturday and purchased the property next week.”

Additional property was left for building expansion, he said, if it's ever necessary.
