OSU baseball player appears in court on drug charge

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State baseball player Gabriel Weidenaar appeared in court Friday morning for arraignment. His attorney Royce Hobbs told District Judge Phillip Corley he and the district attorney's office were nearing an agreement and the case was continued to Sept. 14.

Weidenaar, 21, is charged with unlawful possession of controlled drug with intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of a school, conspiracy to commit a felony and possession of controlled dangerous substance without tax stamp affixed, all felonies, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Weidenaar, an outfielder and relief pitcher, was arrested in April after officers intercepted four pounds of marijuana addressed to the player. He has pleaded not guilty.
