STILLWATER, Okla. — Payne County law enforcement agencies were called to assist in searching for someone possibly involved with a fatal crash near Perkins.
Sheriff's Department Capt. Kevin Woodward said Perkins, Drumright, Iowa Tribe and Payne County law enforcement agencies were contacted by Oklahoma Highway Patrol to assist in searching for someone who might have run from the scene of a fatal wreck.
The driver of a pickup truck, Kenneth A. Gomez, 22, of Cushing, was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive internal injuries, a report by the Department of Public Safety shows.
According to the Sheriff's department, the search did not find anyone.
Investigating troopers listed intoxicated driving as the cause of the crash.
The wreck occured shortly before 11:00 p.m. Monday on Norfolk Road one mile east of Cushing. The truck departed the roadway striking a fence, gate and a utility pole before going up in the air and striking a second utility pole before landing upside down, the report shows.
Passengers Hayden A. Boyles, 21, of Cushing and Chance D. Gray, 18, of Cushing both sustained head and trunk internal injuries but were treated and released from Cushing Regional Hospital.
