Stillwater approves Tiny Paws renovation plans.

STILLWATER, Okla. — Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue’s future home has been approved by the city for renovation, rescue officials said.

Tiny Paws Board member Dee Dutt said the city approved the rescue’s plans to begin renovating the building which sits at the corner of West Ninth Avenue and Lowry Street. She said a building permit is in the process.

The city has agreed to offer the building to the rescue at no cost as long as it is able to get it up to code by making necessary repairs. The building needs about $100,000 in repairs — $72,000 has been raised through grants and donations.

“It’s because of this community that this is being made possible,” Dutt said.

The rescue invited all residents and supporters to a work day on Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. Carpet, wood siding and other materials need to be stripped out. Dutt said residents should bring box cutters, hammers, pliers, crowbars, ladders, screwdrivers, work gloves and masks.

Dutt said the rescue hopes to have the building ready to receive kittens before the first litters are born in March.
