STILLWATER, Okla. —
Fathers and daughters will have the chance to take part in a night of fun and dancing Friday.
The Eighth Annual Dancing with Daddy event will have two start times — preschool through second-graders at 6 p.m. and third-graders and above at 8:30 p.m.
“It just continues to grow,” said Stillwater Community Center Manager Stephanie Gudgel. “Last year, I think they had about a 50 percent increase. They had over 250 couples and it was right at about 533 people.”
Gudgel said those who have attended in the past at the preschool level are still attending, but this time at the older dances.
“The younger dance is typically our most popular,” Gudgel said.
The numbers are beginning to even up on both, she said.
Gudgel said she wants to see the night become something special for fathers and daughters.
Her favorite part of the event is seeing every girl’s face light up as they enter the community center and see the decorations, lights and music.
“My niece has attended with my brother and she loved it,” Gudgel said.
All money collected for the event goes toward next year’s event and adding additional activities and refreshments.
There will be giveaways at the event including T-shirts, gift certificates to local restaurants and more, Gudgel said.
Pictures will be taken at the dance, but attendees are welcome to bring cameras.
Tickets are $25 for a couple and $10 for additional daughters. Prices will rise by $5 if tickets are purchased Thursday, Friday or at the door.
Roses will also be sold for $4.
Gudgel said the dance can become a great memory for young girls.
“It just becomes their special night,” she said.
