STILLWATER, Okla. — A former Payne County jail inmate referred to as "John Doe" has filed a federal lawsuit against the board of county commissioners and the county jail's medical contractor.
According to documents filed in the Western District Court of Oklahoma, the anonymous Payne County resident alleges the jail put him in an isolation cell because of his health status.
According to the petition, the man further alleges the jail allowed him to go 11 days without his HIV medication after his two bottles ran out.
The suit claims this violates the American's With Disabilities Act and the plaintiff is seeking more than $75,000.
