STILLWATER, Okla. —
Global Pipeline Construction, a company facing civil lawsuits because of last summer’s wildfire in Glencoe, has been hit with another lawsuit.
Hesser Holdings, LLC, an Oklahoma limited liability company., is accusing Global of starting the fire that destroyed 240 acres of land Hesser had planned to auction.
The lawsuit’s petition alleges Global workers were negligent while conducting welding activity on a section of pipeline during hot, dry and windy conditions. The welding started the Aug. 4 fire that destroyed 2,000 acres and 17 homes in Glencoe.
The land auction had to be canceled wasting thousands expended to ready the property for sale and advertise. The suit is seeking more than $75,000 in damages.
Sixty five others have pointed the finger at the pipeline company, many of them residents who had homes or land destroyed in the fire. They are also seeking more than $75,000 in damages and a Feb. 21 court date has been set.
