Yale man dies from injuries sustained when his vehicle flipped while doing doughnuts

STILLWATER, Okla. — A man who was airlifted to a Tulsa hospital Monday night following a joyriding accident in Yale was pronounced dead Wednesday evening.

According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, the driver was doing doughnuts in soft sand when he lost control and the vehicle rolled, shortly after 8:00 p.m. Monday. Driver William R. Taylor, 48, of Yale was transported by helicopter to hospital and admitted with in critical condition with neck and trunk internal injuries.

He was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigating troopers determined Taylor was intoxicated and cited this as the cause of the accident.

Taylor's passenger, Randy L. Lewis, 44, of Yale was uninjured.

Payne County Sheriff's Department, Cushing Fire Department and Yale Fire Department responded to the crash.
