STILLWATER, Okla. —
Stillwater Economic Development Authority members awarded a $150,000 economic development contract for 2013 to the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce Monday.
The authority, comprised of members of the City Council, approved a contract with the chamber to provide business retention and expansion, company recruitment, regional and cooperative participation and shop local initiatives.
According to the agreement, the Chamber will provide quarterly reports to the authority’s general manager describing the chamber’s work and related expenses.
The city of Stillwater paid the Chamber $152,000 to provide economic development services in 2012, city spokeswoman Sherry Fletcher said.
Angela McLaughlin, economic director for consumer business development for the city, said the Chamber will be more focused on industrial development while the Chamber will send restaurant and retail development to her department.
“We’re going to work hand-in-hand with the Chamber,” McLaughlin said.
Stillwater officials revamped some of the city’s economic development methods in August.
