Adley Stump scheduled to perform at Color Jam 2012

STILLWATER, Okla. — Stillwater talent will take the stage at this year’s Color Jam 2012.

Executive Director Michael Bohanan said the concert is part of the Oklahoma State University Ad Club’s Creative Lightning Awards.

“This is actually our second year to produce this event,” he said. “Last year, our event was known as the CLA Music Festival.”

Bohanan said the concert is a unique way to end the competition.

“Last year, instead of giving them a general awards event to attend, we wanted to make sure they had something a little bit more dynamic to attend after the awards show concluded,” he said.

The concert, scheduled for 8 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Wes Watkins Center, continues this year with two performers — Adley Stump and Corey White.

According to the concert’s website, Stump’s “singing talent has already taken her from her native Oklahoma to nationwide exposure as a contestant on TV’s hit talent competition The Voice” while the 18-year-old White has had “the opportunity to open for industry greats such as the Oak Ridge Boys, Asleep at the Wheel, John Conlee, Red Dirt Rangers and more.”

Bohanan said they chose a concert because the university’s predominant concert “Orange Peel” has not occurred the past few years.

Tickets are $15 until noon the day of the concert if purchased online and $20 at the door. However, tickets are $10 for purchase online Monday only.

“The money actually goes for two purposes,” Bohanan said. “It does go toward Ad Club. We use that money to fund a few advertising scholarships as a club. And then, the proceeds also help our national student advertising team.”

Those students that are a part of the student advertising team will use the money to help with traveling fees to competitions across the state and nation.

Tickets can be purchased at www.shopokstate.com under “Event Tickets.”

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
