STILLWATER, Okla. —
An Oklahoma State University fraternity is set to host a standup comedy event at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Stillwater Community Center.
Theta Chi’s Gamma Zeta Chapter, which returned to campus April 28, will host comedian Evan Wecksell, a Theta Chi alum who has been featured on Conan, Comedy Central and VH1.
Fraternity member Hunter Akin said the event will benefit the Bob Woodruff Foundation, a national nonprofit that is “dedicated to ensuring injured service members and their families are thriving long after they return home,” according to its website.
“We felt that it was the right move to give back to them and promote that cause,” Akin said. “To give back to people who dedicated their lives to our protection.”
Wecksell is known for doing shows at many colleges to promote causes and Theta Chi, Akin said.
“The comedy itself will probably be of particular interest to OSU alumni as he’s known for making jokes specific to the college or town that he’s performing,” Akin said. “Expect some jokes about OSU and Bedlam as well.”
Akin said parental guidance is advised, but the content of the show will not be for adults only.
Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.
They can be purchased by contacting Akin at email@example.com or near the OSU Student Union every day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
