Payne County group schedules fracking meeting

STILLWATER, Okla. — Angela Spotts, like many other Payne County residents, is worried about the effect oil and gas exploration and the hydraulic fracturing used in the process is having on her land and home.

Spotts is part of a group called Stop Fracking Payne County that is holding a public meeting at the Stillwater Public Library from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Spotts said the group is comprised of people of all political persuasions who have concerns about the impacts of fracking.

She said the group has started an online petition that asks Gov. Mary Fallin to temporarily halt fracking activities.

“Let’s at least have a discussion,” Spotts said. “We’re taking the risk and no one’s really being given the choice.”
