STILLWATER, Okla. —
Registered voters in Payne County who want to cast absentee ballots in Tuesday’s general election can do so at the County Election Board office on Friday, Saturday or Monday at the Payne County Administration Building, 315 W. Sixth Avenue, Election Board Secretary Alyson Dawson said.
Two two-member, bipartisan Absentee Voting Boards will be on duty from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Monday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to assist absentee voters.
“In-person absentee voters fill out an application form when they get to the office. They are not required to give a reason for voting absentee,” Dawson said. “They are required to swear that they have not voted a regular mail absentee ballot and that they will not vote at their polling places on election day.”
According to Dawson, the Absentee Voting Board checks the voter’s ID, verifies the voter’s registration information, then issues the voter’s ballot. The voter marks the ballots in a voting booth and then puts them in the voting device. “It is very much like voting at a precinct polling place,” said Dawson.
Contact the County Election Board, 315 W. 6th, Suite 207, for more information. The telephone number is 405-747-8350.
