STILLWATER, Okla. —
Lieutenant Governor Todd Lamb will be in Stillwater Monday where he is expected to announce the expansion of a Belgian aerospace manufacturer at the former MerCruiser property.
According to a release Friday morning from the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce, Lamb will be joined by Mayor John Bartley, Chamber President/CEO Lisa Navrkal and Meridian Technology Center Superintendent/CEO Doug Major at the Chamber headquarters.
The purpose of the conference listed in the release is “to announce the sale of a manufacturing facility in Stillwater to an international aerospace company.”
Meridian’s computer numeric controls program is expected to provide the training needed for new employees.
ASCO Industries, a Belgium-based aerospace manufacturer, designs and makes high-strength aircraft components and assemblies for Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Embraer commercial jets.
ASCO Industries purchased the former MerCruiser site on Perkins Road from the Stillwater Industrial Foundation on June 25, according to property transaction records filed in the Payne County Clerk’s Office.
The Belgian company formed SREC, LLC, an Oklahoma Limited Liability Co., on June 11. The name was registered with the Oklahoma Secretary of State by the Oklahoma City law firm McAfee & Taft.
The company employs approximately 1,000 and operates facilities in four countries — Belgium, Canada, the United States and Brazil. ASCO Engineering USA is located in Washington state.
Monday’s press conference will coincide with Gov. Mary Fallin leading a delegation of seven Oklahoma aerospace companies to the Farnborough International Air Show in the United Kingdom.
Fallin will be joined by Science and Technology Secretary Stephen McKeever, who is the vice president of research and technology transfer for Oklahoma State University.
Monday is traditionally the day at the international air show for companies to make major announcements.
