Officials: No damage reported following earthquakes in Stillwater, Perry

STILLWATER, Okla. — No damage was reported following two earthquakes in Stillwater and one in Perry Sunday and Monday, officials said.

Sunday, a 3.1 magnitude earthquake occurred east-southeast of Perry at 11:37 p.m., according to the United States Geological Survey’s Web site.

Noble County Sheriff Charlie Hanger said there wasn’t any major damage or injuries.

Stillwater experienced a 3.2 magnitude earthquake at 9:27 p.m. Sunday.

Stillwater Emergency Management Director Kirk Mittelstet said some people may have been rattled, but the earthquake didn’t last long.

Its epicenter was in the 32nd and Brush Creek area, he said.

A smaller 2.5 magnitude earthquake occurred at 9:45 a.m. Mondayin Stillwater, according to USGS.

The quake was a mile south-southeast of the city.

Stillwater police officials said there were no accidents or injuries related to the quakes.

Hanger said earthquakes have become common, but residents are ready for them to stop.

“People get anxious that the smaller ones might lead to a bigger one,” he said.
