Perkins man facing domestic violence, kidnapping and attempted arson charges

PERKINS, Okla. — A Perkins man is accused of spraying his wife and 10-month-old infant with lighter fluid then threatening them with a burning lighter, police records show.

According to an affidavit provided by Perkins police, a woman burst into the police department screaming for help. She told officers her intoxicated husband had beaten her, threatened to set her and her baby on fire and held her against her will.

The victim told police the two started arguing when her husband awoke from a night of drinking still intoxicated. She told police he spanked her 30 to 40 times “very hard” and hit her head when she tried to get away.

When she tried to call 911 the victim said the suspect unplugged the phone. No call came from the address, police records show.

When interviewed, the suspect said he and his wife had been arguing but nothing physical occurred. Officers found a lighter in his front pocket.

Perkins Police Chief Bob Ernst said the suspect was arrested on complaints of domestic violence in the presence of a minor child, kidnapping and attempted arson in the first degree. The suspect is being held on  $50,000 bail.

The suspect has not been charged.
