STILLWATER, Okla. —
A Canadian man accused of murdering a Stillwater teen was hit with new charges after evidence of child sexual abuse was found during the homicide investigation, Canadian police said.
Niagara Regional Police Seargent James Prinsen stated Cassell Farnsworth, 19, is charged with luring a child under the age of 16 for the purpose of facilitating the offense of invitation to sexual touching, invitation to sexual touching, luring a child under the age of 18 to facilitate the making child pornography, luring a child under the age of 18 to facilitate the distribution child pornography, possession of child pornography, luring a child to facilitate exposure, exposure and luring a child under the age of 18 to facilitate the offense of communication for the purpose of obtaining or consideration for the sexual services.
Farnsworth was informed of the charges when he appeared in court Aug. 21, Prinsen said.
Farnsworth was charged in late July with first-degree murder and arson disregarding human life after Madeline Hood, 19, was found dead July 7 after a fire in her basement apartment in St. Catharines, Ontario. She had lived in Stillwater from 1999 to 2004 when her mother and stepmother worked at Oklahoma State University.
“Due to the ongoing investigation and pending court process relating to the accused in this matter, the service will not be providing any further details at this time,” Prinsen said.
