STILLWATER, Okla. —
Agra residents will celebrate the holiday season this year with its first Christmas parade Saturday.
Starting at 4 p.m., the parade will begin at the south end of Agra Elementary and proceeding down Main Street, ending at the Agra Fire Department.
Agra Chamber of Commerce Treasurer Marsha Laxton said the parade will feature groups such as FCCLA, FCA and other entries including antique cars.
“We will have Santa Claus in the parade and different things from the FFA chapter to a nativity scene and we’ll have the Polar Express and things like that,” she said.
Following the parade, the city will hold its second annual tree lighting at approximately 5:30 or 6 p.m.
Area students, from fourth grade and below, have been preparing their own ornaments to hang on the tree.
“This will be our second year and we’re hoping that we’re going to serve about 150 kids with candy and they’re putting the ornaments on the Christmas tree,” Laxton said.
Donations will be accepted at the event.
“We made donation cards that anyone who wants to donate a dollar to our cause, we started this this year,” she said. “It goes into the fund to buy things for the kids and we’re giving out little teddy bears to each kid that comes through the line.”
Each child will also get to meet Santa Claus. Parents are invited to take pictures as the Chamber of Commerce will be taking photos to place on its website.
