School board to meet in special session Monday

STILLWATER, Okla. — The Stillwater Board of Education will meet in special session at noon Monday to vote on service contracts with two health agencies. The meeting will be held at the Administration Building, 314 S. Lewis. The public is welcome.

The board will consider a contract with Heartspring, a nonprofit residential and day school serving children with autism and other developmental disabilities. A behavior team recommended that a student in the district be placed in the program. The contract for 2014-15 school year is $263,480.

The district has submitted a Tier I High Need Reimbursement Assistance application to the Oklahoma State Department of Education. The assistance will provide federal reimbursements for a portion of the monthly cost of educating the student at Heartspring.

The board also will discuss and vote on a contract with Oklahoma Family Counseling to work with the district to provide mental health counseling to students. The contract is for $62,000, billed at $5,166 per month.

The board also will convene in executive session to discuss and vote on several personnel moves.
