Board approves raises for 219 CareerTech employees

STILLWATER, Okla. — CareerTech employees will notice something different about their July paycheck.

It’s going up.

The Oklahoma State Board of Career and Technology Education approved salary increases for 219 of CareerTech’s 264 employees.

The state board approved a pay hike of up to $1,500 a year for employees whose salary is up to $10,000 below market value, and up to $2,500 a year for employees whose salary is $10,000 or more below market value in an attempt to raise salaries to market value.

Depending on the level at which an employee’s salary is below market value, the pay increase could be as much as 4 percent.

The salary hike is organizationwide for eligible employees, including educators, support staff, curriculum planners, finance staff, administrative staff and maintenance and facility personnel.

Employees whose salary already ranks at market value will not receive a raise, nor will new employees who have not yet met the six-month probationary period. The pay increase is only for full-time employees.

The pay increase will take effect when the new fiscal year begins July 1.

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
