STILLWATER, Okla. — ubmitted by Payne County CASA

Payne County CASA is having its 14th annual fundraiser, “Hearts go out for Children Gala,” Feb 8 at the Payne County Expo Center.

This year’s theme is “Copacabana,” a formal attire, 1940s theme event.

Court Appointed Special Advocates is a nonprofit organization that recruits, screens, trains and supports community volunteers who advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children in juvenile deprived court.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with the show at 7:30 p.m. Open bar, upscale buffet, dessert, coffee and cocoa bar, live and silent auctions, dancing and live entertainment are part of the event.

Tickets are $125 and can be purchased by calling the Payne County CASA office at 405-624-2242 or online at casaforkids.com and choose “fundraiser/donation.”

There will be lots of prizes available as well as a romantic, supper club-style dinner atmosphere, and of course, the live and silent auction. This year, the Lime in the Coconut game is sponsored by Interworks with two grand prizes, an iPad Mini and Nike GPA watch.

Like a typical 1940s supper club, we have some superstar entertainment lined up. We have four acts so far. You don’t want to miss Greg Savory, Kari Rains and Charley Box, Jessi Stone (radio personality from 104.1), Terri Collier and Daniel Yates featuring Ben Yates on guitar. Participants will be awarded in various categories such as best performance, best costume, etc.

Our judges are Mayor John Bartley, Mae Badiyan, The Blo Bar and Angela McLaughlin, city of Stillwater Economic Director for Business Consumer Development.

So far, event sponsors are Total Energy, Interworks, S&H Roofing & Home Inspection, Inc., Rains and Sons Trucking, Stillwater National Bank, Stillwater Medical Center, Pilot Logistics Services and Party Box.

If your business would like to become an event sponsor, call 405-624-2242.

Some of our auction items will be a Disney World package, including park hopper passes for four- and five-night stays, a tailgating package donated by Cherokee Strip and a flying dinner date for two donated by Matt Waits, who will fly you to Krebs, just outside of McAlester, where a car will pick you up and take you to the famous Pete’s Place, featuring family-style, Italian cuisine.

Other auction items are an OSU Presidential Suite invitation for the Texas Tech game Feb. 24 for 16 guests, OSU Legends framed prints featuring Gundy/Thomas/Sanders, a weekend at the Atherton Hotel featuring breakfast, a $100 Rancher’s Club gift certificate and OSU baseball tickets for a home weekend series against Arizona on May 2-4. There will be many OSU and Oklahoma City Thunder items as well as prizes from wonderful local and area retailers. Some prizes donated by local retailers are an acoustic guitar from Daddy O’s Music, an autograph from All-American Rejects lead singer Tyson Ritter and a free night stay at Best Western Plus Cimarron Hotel and Suites with complimentary drink tickets to The Loft.

The event promises to be fun, and it takes care of your Valentine’s Day worries. But most importantly, 100 percdent of the proceeds from the event benefit Payne County CASA, a United Way agency.
