Stillwater Board of Education looks to fill seat

STILLWATER, Okla. — The Stillwater Board of Education is initiating the process to fill the Ward 1 seat vacated by Mike Dicks.

The boundary for Ward 1 is located in the southeastern portion of the school district.

“We are looking for a forward thinking visionary who will be a positive addition to our district as we strive to make Stillwater Public Schools the best school district in the state of Oklahoma,” Superintendent Ann Caine said.

Residents living in Ward 1 interested in being considered for the vacated position are required to return a completed application and a resume to the secretary of the Board of Education by 5 p.m. July 19. The Board of Education will conduct interviews at a special meeting in early August. The Board of Education may reserve time to deliberate prior to making a final selection.

Dicks’ term of office was not to expire until 2016, so the person who fills the position will serve the rest of Dicks’ term.

Residents who would like to learn more about the application process or specific boundaries for Ward 1 can call Annette Jones, secretary of the Board of Education, at 533-6300. Applications are available at the Administration Building, 314 S. Lewis, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
