Cushing man electrocuted

STILLWATER, Okla. — Drumright police say a Cushing man died Thursday when he was electrocuted while trying to steal copper.

A witness told police Cody Jacob Holland, 18, had one hand on a copper ground wire with a negative charge when he fell onto a transformer with a positive charge, Assistant Chief Bill Lyon said. The copper wires and transformer were behind a chain-link fence with a high voltage sign along an oil lease road, Lyon said.

The witness called his dad and they took Holland to Drumright Regional Hospital, Lyon said.

Drumright police are investigating the incident.
