Investigators identify body of second man

STILLWATER, Okla. — The state medical examiner’s office identified a second man found dead in a Mannford home in June.

Medical examiners confirmed Thursday that 53-year-old Don Ray Stanford was found in the same home of a double death on June 18, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Pawnee County deputies were sent to the home at the 35000 block of West Basin Rode after a health-care worker asked the sheriff’s department to check on the welfare of a patient.

The deputies found two bodies which had likely been in the home several days based on body decomposition. Deputies identified Ward Ray Bartlett, 60, a few days later.

Pawnee County Sheriff Mike Waters asked OSBI agents to help with the suspicious death investigation.

Stanford “stayed” at Bartlett’s home, according to the OSBI’s release. It states that both men died of gunshot wounds, but officials continue to wait for the medical examiner to officially determine the cause and manner of death. A firearm was found inside the home.
