Street lights melted in Stillwater but alas, it's not the summer heat

STILLWATER, Okla. — Photos of Stillwater's melted street light globes are making the rounds on cell phone cameras and even some television stations. After all, it's been well over 100 degrees for more days than anyone wants to count this summer.

Truth is, the city manager's office says, the light globes south of Sixth Avenue on Husband Street melted as the result of a nearby Dumpster fire.

It's still hot. The National Weather Service forecast 112 for Thursday's high. Look for a break Sunday, when it is expected to be a chilly 98 in Stillwater.
