STILLWATER, Okla. —
The Payne County burn ban has been lifted.
With the statewide burn ban lifted last week, Payne County Commissioners unanimously voted Monday to lift the county's ban.
Jeff Kuhn, emergency manager for the county, said county fire chiefs voted 5-2 to lift the burn ban.
He urged county residents to burn with caution, as “extreme drought” and dry conditions persist.
The commissioners and Kuhn agreed to monitor conditions with Kuhn giving a weekly report at the county meetings.
