CBS Sports says Tennessee has offered its coaching job to OSU coach Mike Gundy

STILLWATER, Okla. — CBS Sports is reporting that Tennessee has offered its football coaching post to Oklahoma State University football coach Mike Gundy.

Gundy is in his eighth year as OSU's head coach. He is the winningest coach in school history. The Cowboys finished tied for third place in the Big 12 Conference with a 5-4 record and went 7-5 overall. The Pokes will play Purdue on Jan. 1 in the Heart of Dallas Bowl in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

He took OSU to the Fiesta Bowl and won the Big 12 Championship in 2011.

Louisville's Charlie Strong also was considered a strong candidate for the Tennessee coaching spot, but Yahoo! Sports reported Tuesday night that Strong decided to stay at Louisville.

Gundy also was rumored to be a candidate for the open Arkansas coaching spot. Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema was announced as the Razorback coach Wednesday morning. He signed a 6 year, 19.2 million contract.
