Stillwater juvenile pleads guilty to assault after escape attempt

STILLWATER, Okla. — A Stillwater teen has pleaded guilty to assaulting a state employee while escaping from a juvenile detention facility.

The juvenile and two others escaped from Salt Fork Adventure Program, a state facility in Grant County for delinquent male youths, by assaulting several employees.

According to an affidavit the Stillwater teen and another teen attacked two employees. The Stillwater teen used a pair of shoes to fight one employee while the other boy attempted to choke a female employee.

Both boys ran out a back door and escaped along with another boy, according to court documents.

A nearby vehicle was reported stolen shortly after the escape.

Court records show sentencing has been deferred for 600 days until the teen is 18 and a half. Until then he is placed on probation and put in the custody of the office of Juvenile Affairs. After he becomes an adult there will be an option for him to be bridged over into the Department of Corrections, according to court records.

Because the teen is from Stillwater his case was transferred to Payne County as it is more convenient, according to court records, even though the alleged assault occured in Grant County.
