Cowboys with Compassion distributes Christmas boxes Tuesday night

STILLWATER, Okla. —

Cowboys with Compassion  is hosting a Christmas food distribution and holiday program 5 p.m., Tuesday at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 902. N. Washington.

“Families who are currently struggling financially and in need of help are encouraged to come register at 5 p.m.,” said organization Director Doug Gable.

A chili dinner will begin the festivities. Families will have the opportunity to select warm winter coats, too.

At 6 p.m., a Christmas program with a choir, nativity and skits will be presented from a nondenominational group from the community.

Dayna Simma is organizing and directing the choir presentation by citizens throughout the area. Children will be involved in the choir presentation and nativity, Gable said.

“A visitor from the North Pole will make a special appearance and greet families,” he said.

Families are welcome to take photographs with Santa Claus. At the end of the program, food boxes will be distributed to families who have registered. These include all the trimmings for more than 150 families to prepare a Christmas meal at their home.

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
