UPDATE: Wildfire roars through east Stillwater houses

STILLWATER, Okla. — Two wildfires roaring across Payne County on Stillwater's eastern edge have destroyed houses and forced evacuation of residents and animals.

Firefighters from surrounding departments have converged to help Stillwater firefighters battle the fires, hampering by shifting wind and triple-digit heat.

Several mobile homes have been burned, along with some frame structures.

The fires along State Highway 51 may have been sparked by a car's hot exhaust pipes when the car pulled off the road.
