UPDATE: Wildfires keeping Stillwater firefighters busy

STILLWATER, Okla. — A fire near 32nd and Union was burning utility poles Wednesday as firefighters refilled their trucks from an Oklahoma State University fire service tank truck.

One fire crew and truck went to a nearby structure to try to keep flames at bay there.

Even as firefighters, hindered by a scorching 113-degree temperature, battled the 32nd street fire as a 9-mph wind blew flames southeast, another fire was reported on Wooten Road near State Highway 51.

That is one of the areas that kept firefighters from 40 departments busy Monday. In that bout of fires, 1,500 acres were burned along with several houses and barns.
