UPDATE: Tank truck flips north of Stillwater

STILLWATER, Okla. — A water tanker truck overturned near Yost and Fairground Roads Tuesday afternoon.

Stillwater Fire Department Battalion Chief Rick Hauf said the driver told him he was transporting water.

The driver sat in a nearby truck to await an ambulance and then required little assistance as he was placed on a stretcher.

A Payne County Sheriff's Deputy and an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper were also on the scene.

OHP Trooper Darren Potter said he believed the driver was ejected in the crash. The driver had been hauling water for a drilling company and may have been traveling too fast to safely negotiate the curve, Potter said.

“I love the high energy stuff,” he said. “Even though it’s country, being able to rock it up, distorted guitars and just seeing the crowd, feeding off of that.”
